EDU-DOCS
Empowering Teachers and Students Through Social Documentaries
EDU-DOCS is a European education project that brings documentary-making into schools as a tool for media literacy, digital storytelling, inclusion, and active citizenship. By empowering teachers and students to explore real social issues through film, the project creates space for critical thinking, creativity, dialogue, and meaningful participation.
About EDU-DOCS
EDU-DOCS is a European project in the field of School Education that introduces social documentary-making as an educational tool for teachers and students. The project is designed to strengthen media literacy, digital storytelling, and civic engagement by helping school communities explore real social issues through film.
By bringing documentary practice into the learning process, EDU-DOCS encourages students to think critically, express themselves creatively, and engage with the world around them in a more conscious and meaningful way. At the same time, it provides educators with innovative methods and practical tools that support inclusion, student well-being, intercultural dialogue, and active participation in school life.
Through training activities, workshops, collaborative exchanges, and open-access educational resources, EDU-DOCS aims to create a sustainable model for documentary-based learning that can continue to benefit schools across Europe beyond the duration of the project.
Project Objectives
EDU-DOCS aims to empower teachers and students by integrating social documentary-making into school education as a meaningful and contemporary learning practice. Through this approach, the project seeks to strengthen media literacy, encourage critical thinking, and help young people better understand how media shapes the way social issues are presented and perceived.
A central objective of the project is to support digital storytelling in education, giving students the opportunity to research, reflect, collaborate, and express their ideas through documentary creation. At the same time, EDU-DOCS equips educators with innovative pedagogical tools and training methods that can be applied in inclusive, student-centered learning environments.
The project also aims to foster intercultural dialogue, civic participation, and emotional awareness by encouraging students to engage with real-life topics that matter to their communities. By combining creativity, reflection, and participation, EDU-DOCS promotes a more active, empathetic, and socially aware school culture.
In the long term, the project aims to leave a sustainable educational legacy through open-access resources, practical tools, and a transferable model that can support schools and educational institutions across Europe.
