Project Overview
EDU-DOCS is a European school education project that uses social documentary-making as a practical and meaningful learning tool. Through collaborative storytelling, the project supports students and teachers in exploring social issues, strengthening digital skills, and building a more active, reflective, and inclusive educational culture.
The project brings together partners from Greece, France, Spain, Denmark, and Poland to develop and implement educational activities that combine media literacy, documentary practice, civic engagement, and digital storytelling. Running from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2027, EDU-DOCS is designed to create both immediate classroom impact and long-term educational value through open-access resources and collaborative learning experiences.
Why EDU-DOCS
Young people are surrounded by media, images, narratives, and digital content every day. EDU-DOCS responds to the growing need for critical media understanding by giving students the opportunity not only to analyze stories but also to create them. By using documentary-making in educational contexts, the project encourages students to observe, question, interpret, and represent real social themes with responsibility, empathy, and awareness.
Main Goals
The main goals of EDU-DOCS are to strengthen media literacy in schools, support digital storytelling as an educational method, promote civic participation and intercultural dialogue, and provide educators with practical tools for inclusive and student-centered teaching. The project also aims to create sustainable outputs that remain accessible and useful beyond the official project duration.
Educational Approach & Vision
EDU-DOCS combines non-formal learning methods, participatory storytelling, teacher training, collaborative workshops, and hands-on film practice. It approaches documentary-making not only as a creative process but also as a pedagogical framework that supports reflection, teamwork, dialogue, and emotional awareness. The project places equal importance on student voice, educator support, and real community connection.
Long-term Vision
In the long term, EDU-DOCS seeks to establish a transferable model for documentary-based education that can be adapted by schools and institutions across Europe. Through the EDU-DOCS Toolkit, the Virtual Library, and related educational materials, the project aims to extend its impact well beyond the partnership itself and contribute to a stronger culture of media literacy, empathy, and civic learning in education.
