The Cultural Organisation of Crete (C.O.C.) was founded in 2001 to promote and produce cultural, educational and artistic projects and publications. The two major projects of the organization is the Chania Film Festival /CFF (WEBSITE) and its educational program CFF Edu. The CFF takes place annually at the end of October in Chania, Crete. Through its versatile screening program and a multitude of parallel educational and art events, very quickly it received national recognition as an institution with cultural significance, establishing international collaborations and hosting prominent guests from Greece and abroad. The CFF wishes to bring to the audience distinguished Greek and international films, but also aspires to provide the space for audience and creators to meet and have constructive dialogue, as well as to make a social impact by means of creative and interventional projects.
During its eleven-day duration (last week of October and first week of November every year), approximately 15.000 viewer (including school audience) attend free of charge the screenings and the parallel events, such as workshops, master classes, and exhibitions. The CFF is also active during the rest of the year until the next festival; it produces and presents a number of events throughout the year, special screenings, educational workshops, film productions etc.
